Indra Gunawan Tested Positive for Methylhexaneamine

Tested positive for a compound called Methylhexaneamine (trade names Forthane, Geranamine) after the 50 meter breaststroke final on July 1st, Indonesia’s swimmer Indra Gunawan received a 2 year ban imposed by the FINA (International Swimming Federation, July 2013 to July 2015) and a 3 month ban from the LADI (Indonesian Anti-Doping Institution). Despite of this, it’s been confirmed by the jakartapost that Intra will likely to be staying in the Indonesia’s swimming team for the 2014 Asian Games in Korea.

Admitted by Sandiaga Uno, chairman of the PRSI (Indonesia Swimming Association),doping among athletes has become a rising concern in the country. Nonetheless, they will prepare an appeal to the authority as Intra has already received a punishment imposed by the LADI and the disqualification of Indonesia’s July 3rd 400 medley relay previously.
